The program emphasizes safety procedures while studying the operation of AC and DC power sources, weld heat, polarities, and electrodes for use in joining various alloys by the shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) process. Students will weld different types of joints in the following positions: flat plate (1G), horizontal (2g), vertical up (3G), and overhead (4g) positions.
