Pipe Welding I: SMAW – Summer 2026

Prerequisite – Welding Fundamentals and 3G welding certification. Must have permission from instructor prior to registration. Focuses on the techniques used for welding pipe. The shielded metal arc (SMAW) welding process is used to perform practice welds on pipe diameters from 2-12 inches. Basic pipe-fitting practices will be demonstrated using butt weld and socket weld fittings to progress through learning to weld pipe in horizontal and vertical positions.
