This intermediate level machining course explains in detail the operation of the manual lathe that will include, but not be limited to: Turning Safety, Process Improvement and Troubleshooting, Lathe Controls, Single-Point Threading, Tapping, Fits and Tolerances, Measurement, Process Control, Tooling and Lathe Set-up, and Layout Procedures. Many lathe operations use tooling with carbide inserts, but a Machinist must know the proper sequence for grinding the surfaces of a lathe tool, applying the proper rake angles.
