An integral part of the construction industry is heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC). These systems create and regulate a comfortable and safe indoor environment for all. Skilled technicians work to repair, replace and create better systems that are energy-efficient for residential and commercial properties.
With the HVAC industry projected to continue growing at a steady rate over the next 10 years, the need for highly trained and innovative technicians is widespread. Fastforward’s HVAC training programs provide students with abundant opportunities to learn from professionals in the field and prepare them for in-demand jobs in their community.
We chatted with three students pursuing a career in HVAC at their local community college – here’s what they had to say.
Harry Ree Pannell III, Central Virginia Community College
“G3 and FastForward offered me a way to pursue plumbing and HVAC without the stress of figuring out how much it is going to cost. It puts an ease on my life to where I am excited to go to class, I am excited to learn. Plus, [at Central Virginia] not only do you gain an understanding of the trade, you also are able to create bonds with your classmates and friendships and potentially a new source of network in the field.”
Josh Cassimore, Southside Virginia Community College
“Currently I am studying levels one and three of HVAC. I chose to study it because I got into the trade a couple of years ago and I really enjoy working with my hands. It’s a very well-compensated career. I’m trying to better myself, be employable and make more money.”
Andrew Vincent, Southside Virginia Community College
“I am in the workforce program for heating and air. It involves hands-on soldering and brazing, connecting units and troubleshooting processes. Mr. Brown is a great teacher, very connected with his students and he owns his own HVAC company, so he has a lot of knowledge. Getting all the certifications and your license comes with the course, and you just need those types of things if you are going into this field.”
